The cast of Wait Until Dark has a solid week of rehearsals under their belts – and the anticipation for this show is killing me! Directed by David Ira Goldstein, the cast includes:

Craig BockhornCRAIG BOCKHORN (Carlino) makes his Geva Theatre Center debut in Wait Until Dark. Broadway credits include On Golden Pond, The Lonesome West and Prelude to a Kiss. Off-Broadway and New York credits include The Seagull at the Delacorte Theatre; King Lear, The Cripple of Inishmaan and Kit Marlowe at the Public; The Hope Zone and The Truth-Teller at Circle Repertory Company. Mr. Bockhorn has appeared at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, Alley Theatre, Alliance Theatre, Asolo Theatre, Baltimore CenterStage, Cleveland Play House, Denver Center Theatre, Florida Rep, Kennedy Center (where he was nominated for a Helen Hayes Award), Portland Center Stage, Syracuse Stage and Walnut Street Theatre among others. Film and TV credits include The Big Year, TransAmerica, “Law & Order” (“S.V.U” and “C.I.”), “The Michael J. Fox Show,” “Person of Interest,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “Cupid,” “Kidnapped,” “Ed” and “As the World Turns.”

Ted KochTED KOCH (Roat) makes his Geva Theatre Center debut in Wait Until Dark. Broadway credits include The Pillowman, Death of a Salesman and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Off-Broadway and Regional credits include The Seagull at Huntington Theatre; Scott and Hem at Barrington Stage; Strange Interlude for Shakespeare Theatre; Donnybrook! at the Irish Rep; Born Yesterday and God of Carnage at Pittsburgh Public; Snow Falling on Cedars at Hartford Stage; Meshugah for Naked Angels; Sweet Bird of Youth at Williamstown Theatre; True West at Arena Stage (Helen Hayes nomination for Best Actor); A Streetcar Named Desire for Buffalo’s Studio Arena; Whisper House at The Old Globe and All’s Well at The Goodman Theatre. Brooke ParksBROOKE PARKS (Susan) makes her Geva Theatre Center debut in Wait Until Dark. She has played Ophelia in Hamlet at the Yale Repertory Theater, the Princess of France in Loves Labour’s Lost and Katrin in Mother Courage at Shakespeare and Company, as well as numerous roles at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival including
Katherine in Henry V, Helen of Troy in Troilus and Cressida, Mariana in Measure for Measure, Caroline Bingley in Pride and Prejudice and Viola in Twelfth Night. She has performed with the California classical repertory company A Noise Within for various productions including A Midsummer Nights Dream, Macbeth, and Coriolanus. Ms. Parks is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama.

 

 

Peter RiniPETER RINI (Mike) is pleased to make his Geva Theatre Center debut in Wait Until Dark. On Broadway he originated the role of Vinnie Bavasi in Neil Simon’s Proposals; Marco in the Tony-winning revival of A View From the Bridge, and Agent Loyal in Tartuffe: Born Again, set in the Bible Belt. He played Commander Harbison on the first national tour of South Pacific from Lincoln Center Theater, directed by Bartlett Sher. Select Off-Broadway credits include The Talls for Second Stage Uptown, The Old Boy for Keen Company and Feather: A Musical Portrait at NYMF 2013. Regional highlights include Richard Roma in Glengarry Glen Ross at Dallas Theater Center; Don Pedro in Much Ado About Nothing at Hartford Stage/Shakespeare Theater, D.C.; Constant in The Provok’d Wife (A.R.T., Cambridge) and Joseph Tumulty in the World Premiere of Edith at the Berkshire Theater Festival. TV/Film credits include Jason Figueroa in “Orange is the New Black,” “Blue Bloods,” “SMASH!,” and all the “Law & Order” franchises, Sleepers, Boiler Room and The Juror. He has worked in many national commercial campaigns. Mr. Rini received his M.F.A. from NYU’s Graduate Acting Program, and his B.A. in Theatre Arts from Brandeis University.

Remi SandriREMI SANDRI (Sam) is thrilled to be back at Geva Theatre Center for Wait Until Dark. His previous shows here include A Christmas Carol, The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs, My Fair Lady, Twelve Angry Men, The Importance of Being Earnest, House and Garden, A Chorus Line, Camelot, 1776 and A Christmas Story, among others. Mr. Sandri has worked at theatres throughout the country. His most recent work includes Clybourne Park at Cleveland Play House, 1776 at Cape Cod Playhouse, Abigail’s Party at San Francisco Playhouse, Clybourne Park for Barrington Stage Company, Dorset Theatre Festival and workshopping Rajiv Joseph’s newest play. TV Credits include “Law and Order,” “Conviction” and “Deadline.”

Lauren SchaffelLAUREN SCHAFFEL (Gloria) makes her Geva Theatre Center debut in Wait Until Dark. She most recently appeared in the upcoming feature film Revenge of the Green Dragons, executive produced by Martin Scorsese and in the comedy My Dead Boyfriend directed by Anthony Edwards. She also appeared in the film Admission starring Tina Fey. Other notable roles include Becca on the hit CBS show “Still Standing” and the voice of Lucy in “A Charlie Brown Valentine’s Day” and “Lucy Must Be Traded.” Ms. Schaffel has also performed at Playwrights Horizons in the Samuel French OOB Festival play Basket Weaver and in the world premiere of Gloria. She is part of the Tennessee Williams Project and has appeared in Summer and Smoke, The Glass Menagerie, Battle of Angels and Camino Real. She is thrilled to be a part of Wait Until Dark and would like to thank her manager Wayne Scherzer, her parents, Eric and Mike for all of their love and support.

I'm the literary director and resident dramaturg at Geva Theatre Center in Rochester, NY. Geva Journal is the place to talk about what happens onstage at Geva - how what we see onstage came to be, and how we all react to it - artists and audiences alike. Before arriving in Rochester, I spent 10 years at Theatre Communications Group, the national service organization for the American non-profit theatre field, based in New York City. My background is in dramaturgy. As a dramaturg, my main responsibility is to help paint a full picture of the world being created onstage. Dramaturgs do this for artists primarily by sharing information about the context of the world - the historical, biographical and social background. And we do this for audiences by creating opportunities to more fully engage in the world of the play - through lobby displays, articles online and in print, and conversations. And we ask questions. Lots and lots of questions.
